At the National Film Board of Canada, we believe that quality content should be available to all. That’s why we’re aiming to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) across all of our digital products.
Closed captioning and described video
The NFB has made many of its online videos available with closed captioning for the hearing impaired and described video for the visually impaired.
When closed captioning or described video is available for a given film or series, the DV and/or CC icons will appear in the control bar of the video player. Clicking on one of these icons will start the alternative version of the film.

Accessibility Plan
Over the last couple of years, our web team has actively been working to improve accessibility on our online platforms. Our consultations with people with disabilities identified several barriers that we’ve started to remove. The changes include larger font sizes, accentuated colour contrasts and better tagging for screen readers on our websites and apps. You can find more details, as well as information about our next steps for improvement, in the NFB’s 2023–2025 Accessibility Plan.
If you encounter any issues or obstacles as we continue to improve the accessibility of our digital platforms, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Your feedback
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our digital platforms and content we offer online. Please send us your comments and questions by contacting our Client Relations and Support team.
