Glass shelves used to be a major contributor to waste. Now we've discovered a way to reuse them! 🪟♻️ Seven-Eleven Japan and AGC have successfully recycled glass resources from store facilities for the first time in Japan (according to research by AGC). What does this mean? Approximately 4 tons (equivalent to around 30 stores) of waste glass was collected from aging store facilities and then used to produce plate glass that can be used at new stores. To achieve this at a high quality, we developed a three step process: (1) Establishing the logistics to collect discarded glass from stores (Seven-Eleven Japan). (2) Collecting and then confirming that glass composition is suitable for recycling into plate glass (Seven-Eleven Japan and AGC). (3) Evaluating the separating process and quality of raw material cullet (AGC). The result means lower industrial waste, support for the circular economy, and a reduced cost from importing raw materials for glass production. This collaboration is based on the sustainability management approaches of both companies. Seven-Eleven Japan and AGC Group will continue to work together to expand the recycling of glass components. #Innovation #GlassRecycling

7NOW is available for any occasion: when you’re busy, when shopping is difficult, or when you suddenly have a craving for a scoop of ice cream.🍨 Customers can simply order when they've decided what they want and have the items at their preferred location. 7NOW can deliver from approximately 16,000 7-Eleven stores right across Japan, and the order can be delivered in as little as 20 minutes. There are around 3,000 items available through 7NOW, which is managed in real-time, allowing customers to quickly check the products available when they want to place an order. When an order comes in, the staff simply picks the items up and scans them on the spot - no need to go through a cash register. Once the order is ready, delivery partners are contacted to assign a vehicle at the fastest possible time. We opened our first Western Australia store at High Street Fremantle on 30 October 2014. Ten years and an investment of more than $60 million later, that one store has grown to be a network of 60, and a team of more than 600. The current members of Team WAAH (team Western Australia) spent time in stores and support office with Shin and Fiona earlier this month to share the progress being made in WA towards achieving our ambition, and to celebrate our 10th anniversary. A huge thanks to all of our team past and present who have contributed to building our extraordinary brand in the West over the past decade. https://lnkd.in/gxgwXi56

In the 3rd quarter, thanks to our community's generosity, we raised $21,000 to support Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels. Since 1979, they’ve been delivering nutritious meals and wellness checks to Oahu’s kupuna and individuals with disabilities, helping them stay nourished and connected. A new venture to cater to a more convenient future! 🥐 This year, Seven-Eleven Japan renovated one of its existing stores in Matsudo City, Chiba, to create an SIP store. This was a proactive step to secure 7-Eleven’s future by taking into account rapidly changing consumption behaviors, values, and changing customer needs. This SIP Store is nearly twice the size of a conventional store and offers 5,300 items: more than 2,000 more products. To be able to offer such a large range, leveraging Group synergies, including products from Ito-Yokado, LOFT, and Akachan Honpo, was essential. The result has been a store that is particularly popular with women, the elderly, and customers with families. Now, we will apply what we have learned from the SIP Store to our product development and product assortment, such as frozen food and hot snacks (pictured below), to bring new excitement to 7-Eleven customers. Going forward, we plan to expand the pilot to existing stores in other areas, extracting best practices from the SIP store. #RetailInnovation

Customers trust us because we care about high-quality, safe and secure food. Did you know that as far back as 1979, 7-Eleven took a big step forward in improving hygiene and achieving superior quality control? It happened when we partnered with the Nihon Delica Foods Association (NDF). The NDF is an association for food producing companies, whose role is purchasing of raw ingredients, and the development of products and recipes. Today, there are 172 NDF member factories across Japan that only provide products to Seven & i Group stores. Their work has meant food stays fresher for longer, food waste is lowered, and every time a customer purchases one of our products they are getting great taste and reliable quality. #FoodSupplyChain

It's the 30th anniversary of our most northern business in the #7andiFamily! 🎉 Terube is based in northern Japan, Kitami City of Hokkaido, and specializes in producing shiitake mushrooms and printing business. It has become a very positive part of the local community since its founding in 1994 by actively employing people with disabilities. Today, 22 of the 38 employees have disabilities, and it also welcomes the contributions of older people from the Senior Human Resources Center. It has the slogan "Never be discouraged, never give up, and always stay positive." To support this slogan, Terube has developed a unique workplace environment that enables staff of all abilities and ages to contribute in safety and with confidence. For instance, Terube staff use size rings to measure the shiitake mushrooms during the sorting process, which helps all staff instantly identify the appropriate sizes for distribution. The facility also hangs color posters on the walls to help people quickly check if the quality is acceptable for shipping. All employees, regardless of disabilities, skills, or age, work together to play a role in producing these delicious shiitake mushrooms. #Diversity #Inclusion

It's just like eating real fruit!🥭🍑 SEVEN PREMIUM's ice bar series revolutionized the Japanese market in 2013 by successfully capturing the original texture and essence of fruits in ice bars. The series is incredibly popular to this day (195 million bars in total sold!), especially by young women, because it's just like eating fresh, natural, chilled fruits. Here are three secrets to their delicious taste: #1 We collaborate with Andeico, a company specializing in chilled sweets. Through this partnership we can utilize their manufacturing technology and knowledge. #2 Using highly viscous ice bar ingredients and a unique manufacturing method means we achieve the rich and moist texture of fruits such as mangoes and bananas. #3 We use a two-layer structure with different types of filling that successfully recreates the authentic taste and characters of each fruit’s surface and inner layer. #IceCream #ProductDevelopment
