    Harka

    ★★★½

Harka does not pull any punches when it comes to the portrayal of someone succumbing to despair when faced with dire situations. Without saying a single word at times, Adam Bessa is able to convey his character’s emotions effortlessly, and Lofty Nathan’s direction gives him room to breathe and showcase his skills.

The script is thoughtful and calls for reflection on its subject matters. Its conclusion is powerful and might shock some people, but it would’ve been way more effective had it been preceded by a third act that didn’t feel rushed.

    Paris, Texas

    ★★★★½

The Sound of Loss is Silence. Three thoughts on Paris, Texas:

    1) There is a scene at the end of Paris, Texas that is just a conversation between two characters that goes on for a while. But this is no ordinary exchange of words. It is the climax of the movie, much like the graveyard shooting is the climax of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
This segment is beautifully shot with a mise-en-scène that gives us a lot of clues about…
