The Curse

The Curse

I haven’t seen a lot of miniseries, but this is almost definitely the best one I’ve seen. I want to start by shouting out some of the supporting performances. Hikmah Warsame gives a great kid performance. Gary Farmer, Corbin Bernsen and Barkhad Abdi are great, I haven’t seen either of them in awhile. Nizhonniya Austin, Alexander Adrian Gibson and Oscar Avila round out a superb supporting cast. The performances are probably the main aspect that makes this so compelling, so let’s talk about the leads. This is the best performance I’ve seen from Benny Safdie. So layered and really thought provoking. Emily Stone is the best actress in the world right now, and she just continues to be spine chilling episode after episode. I changed my mind about whether I liked Whitney like 11 times in this show. Nathan Fielder is genuinely reinventing a genre here. This is a genius project from top to bottom. His acting is incredible, and on par with Stone and Safdie, but his (and Safdies) writing and his direction sets this apart. If you haven’t seen this yet, you must. It’ll make you want to crawl back into the womb, but you have no choice but to hold your eyelids back and keep watching, it’s simply too good.
