A little birthday gift, I'm finally premiering my graduation film for the world to see!
It may not be the happiest thing to show on a birthday but it is nonetheless an important personal story that I finally decided to share with a larger audience. It's been on the festival circuit for a little while but I figured it was time to let more people see it and not keep it for the lucky few who could catch it atβ¦
Itβs not what a film is about, itβs about how itβs about it. The most complex and original stories could get completely chopped up because of how awfully a film is directed, edited, etc. and a story that has been told countless times before can be given a fresh beating heart by a daring new auteur. 1917, as unfortunate as it may be, doesnβt really tell us anything we didnβt know before. Itβs a technical achievement of immense scale whichβ¦

The kind of documentary that's inspiring because of the form but, strangely enough, not because of the content. I must say that I approach self-produced biopics/documentaries with a certain level of skepticism and with Piece by Piece that skepticism was somewhat warranted. It's a wonderfully inventive testament to creativity, something of which Pharell is a shining beacon; but a film that's basically just a by-the-numbers, chronological flipbook of all the hits he created... it getsβ¦

A touching film, truly. For someone who's not particularly fond of Ferrell as a comedian, it's nice to see the human in him as he opens himself (and the handful of states he and his longtime friend cross) up to the idea of plain and simple understanding. Will & Harper isn't reinventing the wheel here, but it is a very welcome filmβ¦
Yeah TimothΓ©e, you're not the only one having "visions" of Zendaya, but most people just dare to call them what they actually are: wet dreams.
All jokes aside, I have quite a lot of thoughts on Dune (as with most of Villeneuve's films). Longer review/ramblings coming very soon.

Dune may, in the end, prove to be unfilmable after all. Frank Herbertβs vision was one of such an epic scope that it just doesnβt seem to find a right fitβ¦
