Harvest

TIFF 2024, Film 15

Athina Rachel Tsangari, Caleb Landry Jones, and Harry Melling in attendance.

First some extra-filmic notes that do not impact my score of the movie. Just want to note them for posterity.

1. Harry Melling wasn’t very nice.
2. Caleb Landry Jones was casually smoking (I won’t blow up his spot and assume what haha) on the sidewalk after.
3. I became more impressed by his performance as a 1300s Scottish man after hearing him talk in real life because I never would have guessed he had the chill stoner vibes of a California bro based on his performance. (See 2)

Now, to the film. I guess I lied a bit. 3 kind of does impact my perception of the film. Jones’ performance was pretty transformative and I applaud him for that.

Beyond that, this isn’t my type of movie. I knew that going in. So, really, me not hating it says something about the caliber of it, overall. I liked that it had perspective and a flowing (Not sure if that’s the right word) cinematography that was nice.

This one wasn’t for me, but it was still good.
