Quote1 In life, I tried to destroy my enemies by making friends of them... but making corpses of my enemies is so much more fulfilling. Quote2
—Abraham Lincoln zombie[src]

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States of America, he was a self-taught Illinois lawyer and legislator with a reputation as an eloquent opponent of slavery.[1]

History

American Civil War[]

Abraham's election that November pushed several Southern states to secede by the time of his inauguration in March 1861, and the Civil War began barely a month later. Contrary to expectations, Abraham proved to be a shrewd military strategist and a savvy leader during what became the costliest conflict ever fought on American soil. Abraham's Emancipation Proclamation, issued in 1863, freed all slaves in the rebellious states and paved the way for slavery's eventual abolition, while Abraham's Gettysburg Address later that year stands as one of the most famous and influential pieces of oratory in American history.[2]

The Slave of Souls encountered Lincoln during his long life.[3]

Spider-Man witnessed Abraham when he was travelling through time on the Time Platform.[4] Spider-Man then flew over Abraham during a speech when he was sent hurling through time.[4]

Doctor Yesterday's tampering with time caused Abraham to appear in the present, greeting Michael Jeffries and Mike Peterson before returning to his own time.[5]

Following the war the Demon Nightmare gave Lincoln nightmares for seven months, taking him to the graves of the men he sent to their death during the American Civil War.[6]

Assassination of Abraham Lincoln[]

Assassination of Abraham Lincoln

In April 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth; Abraham's untimely death made him a martyr to the cause of liberty and Union. Over the years Abraham's mythic stature has only grown, and Abraham is widely regarded as one of the greatest presidents in the nation's history.[7]

Legacy[]

The Mad Thinker created an android based on Abraham Lincoln programed with all of Lincoln's writings, as part of a project where the Thinker created androids based on many great thinkers, hoping they would make new applications of their philosophies for our time.[8]

Zombie[]

Over a century later, Lincoln was among the dead former American Presidents brought back as super-powered zombies by the Necromancer in a misguided attempt to help the country. As such, the former Presidents lacked their humanity and joined forces to destroy the country and start anew. Deadpool was enlisted by S.H.I.E.L.D. to murder the corrupted Presidents, but when he first intercepted them during an assembly in Liberty Hall, Lincoln snuck up on Wade and shot him from behind.[9]

Deadpool and his allies crossed paths with Lincoln several times, chasing him and his cohorts away from Washington, D.C.[10] and later from the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant, which Lincoln tried to sabotage.[11] The undead President subsequently interrupted a wrestling show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with the intent to kill all attendants, but he was confronted by Deadpool again. They agreed to settle their feud in an unarmed fist-fight, and although Lincoln overpowered his opponent, Deadpool got the upperhand when the bystanding wrestler Adrian Van Lundgren tossed him one of his katanas, which Wade used to decapitate Lincoln. William Howard Taft swept into the scene on his flying bathtub, retrieved Lincoln's head and body, and escaped.[11] Taft then attached Lincoln's head to his rubber duckie, but he was dispatched for good when Deadpool blew up Taft's bathtub later on.[12]
