Dave Sullivan and his family were neighbors of Ben Parker in Forest Hills. Dave had a drinking problem, and Ben, an active member of the community, tried to help him quit. Since Dave kept backsliding, Ben ultimately helped Dave's wife and daughter move out. Dave picked a fight with Ben in response, but Ben laid him out.
Dave kept trying to quit for years, and the memory of Ben kept him going. After finally succeeding to stay sober for a year and reconciling with his daughter, Dave visited Ben's grave to thank him. He stumbled into Ben's nephew Peter and they had a conversation about Ben which inspired Peter. After leaving his sobriety chip at Ben's tombstone, Dave invited Peter to join him in a visit to his daughter's house.[1]
