History

Doc Sawbones was a superpowerful wrestler, and a member of the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation - a wrestling league exclusively for fighters with superhuman strength and power. When the UCWF had just a few months of existence, they arranged an exhibition at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, where Doc Sawbones would fight the Awesome Armadillo, a non-human-looking fighter (A second fight in the same night confronted Ramrod and Kid Stuff). The soirée was attended by a great amount of public, including (in their civilian identities) superheroes Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Captain America, and his fiancée Bernie Rosenthal. During the fight, the audience cheered Armadillo and booed Sawbones. Armadillo defeated and knocked down Sawbones.[1]

Sawbones continued his career in the UCWF. In the Los Angeles training center of the Federation, another wrestler called Red Zeppelin had a scheduled fight against Sawbones, and Zeppelin practiced his whines to convince the audience that Sawbone was (would be) hurting Zeppelin.[2]

Sawbones would become a comentator partnered with Crusher Hogan. When Night of Fights 2024 was interrupted by Eddie Brock and his temporal duplicates the pair commented as first the wrestlers and then mercenaries were defeated.[3]

Attributes

Powers

Super-Strength: As per the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation's regulations, Doc Sawbones must have been able to lift at least 25 tons.[4] At that point, he was required to have strength, endurance, and resistance to injury equal or greater to an olympic athlete's, times ten.[1]

Notes

  • Most of the fighters in the UCWF had obtained their strength through treatments provided by Power Broker, Inc. - but some other fighters had powers of different origin (mutants, aliens, Eternals, and Deviants). The origin of Sawbone's powers has not been revealed.
  • Doc Sawbones' name had a subtitle in the poster, that included the letters "junkya... surge...", but it is incomplete in the comic.[1]
  • Doc Sawbones has a Fu Manchu moustache and goatee in the poster, but he's clean shaven during the fight.
