History

Henri Dugarry (Earth-6160) from Ultimate Spider-Man Vol 3 2 001

In civilian clothes, after eye injury.

Henri Dugarry was a French nobleman, descending from Louis XIV, and the wielder of both the Sword of Might and the Amulet of Right. In addition of granting him the mantle of this reality's Captain Britain, they gave him providence over the entirety of the European Coalition, which was one of the seven sovereign bodies whose combined power governed the entire world. In turn, Dugarry was part of a secret council of world leaders under the leadership of the world's imperator, the Maker, who orchestrated geopolitical conflicts and alliances to rally their citizens together under a common cause.[1] He used this power to conquer Avalon and, other than taking the Lady of the Lake as his concubine, he also razed the land of its relics and desecrated them. He commanded his own personal guard called the Black Crusade.[2]

Captain Britain was present at the Maker's castle in Latveria after a summit of world leaders was interrupted by an army of super-soldiers from the future sent by the warrior Kang to kill the Maker.[3] He observed as the rest of the cabal explained to the new member of their alliance, Howard Stark, the insidious workings of their secret society.[1]

After Stark betrayed the Maker, trapping him inside his headquarters, the City, as it closed itself off from the rest of the world, Dugarry and the rest of the cabal gathered to discuss their course of action going forward in light of the Maker's absence, and agreed on waiting two years to see if the City opened up.[4] Soon afterward, Captain Britain intercepted Howard's son Iron Lad and his allies when they infiltrated the Maker's castle to steal a repository from him. Dugarry managed to wound Thor, but when he was locked in combat with Iron Lad, he fired at Dugarry with a repulsor blast at point blank, costing him his left eye. Dugarry subsequently video-called the rest of the cabal to inform them of his encounter with Iron Lad and his allies.[5]

A few months later, in February 2024, Henri held a meeting with his North American Union subordinate, Wilson Fisk, to discuss the presence of two vigilantes in Manhattan: one, a web-swinging man dressed in all black, and the other, a green-armoured assailant pursuing Fisk. Duggary questioned Fisk's strategy of using the media to blind the public, and suggested he use the resources he and his associates had provided.[6]

Black Crusade (Earth-6160) from Ultimates Vol 4 1 001

With the Black Crusade, facing the Ultimates in Hoboken.

In June 2024, Captain Britain and the Black Crusade intercepted Stark's team, now called the Ultimates, again in Hoboken, where they were trying to recruit Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. During the fight that occurred Dugarry faced Iron Lad again and was on the point of killing him, when he and the whole team were defeated by Pym, now called Giant-Man. Despite the defeat and the death many members of the Black Guard, Dugarry apparently managed to get away from the scene.[2] After this event, the following month, Dugarry, convinced the "superhero problem" was becoming more prominent, met again with Fisk and offered him an entire squad of assassins to help him eliminate the vigilantes that were threatening his life, now known as Spider-Man and Green Goblin; the Kingpin of Manhattan kindly refused, having a plan of his own on how to deal with his own problems.[7]
