Highbreeds

Highbreeds were cybernetic creatures created through a process of gene-cruitment, by which captive subjects were converted into armored, self-regenerating warriors under complete control of Hermetikus.^[1] Highbreeds could be created from any sentient species and were nearly unkillable, as well as capable of instantly converting any captives to further their own ranks.^[2] Highbreeds were controlled by Hermetikus from the Structure, an esodimensional construct outside of time and space from which doorways could be opened to any time and place, by several of his additional brains that he extracted from notable brilliant individuals and which worked in unison as a hive-mind.

Tyreeze, now calling himself Hermetikus, used the Highbreeds to launch attacks into various periods of time, assimilating entire cultures and civilizations into his host. He also selected certain brilliant individuals to augment his own intelligence, removing their brains and placing them into specials chambers in his suit, where they acted as a hivemind.^[3] Entire civilizations were converted into Highbreeds, their number eventually nearing 80 billion. Hermetikus was eventually defeated by the combined efforts of three teams of Guardians of Galaxy led by Stella Nega, Rocket Raccoon and Major Victory. Rocket had reversed the process of gene-cruitment, turning Highbreeds back into their original forms with no memories of their time as Highbreeds, after which the Guardians tasked General Korz with sending everyone back to their original time and place.^[4]
