Melvin met Redwing during a jewelry heist. When one of the robbers escaped Falcon, the two birds followed. Melvin suggested a plan to cut him off, but Redwing demanded he leave this to professionals. Melvin went ahead with his plan anyhow, allowing Redwing to compromise the thief's getaway motorcycle. Redwing initially yelled at Melvin, but was able to guilt Red to making him his partner.[1]
