History
Blur was a construct created by the demon Mephisto[2] and programmed by the Power Elite in cooperation with a recently-revived Agent Coulson to be a member of the Squadron Supreme of America, a superhero team sponsored by the U.S. Government. But secretly to further Coulson and Mephisto's schemes. As part of his conditioning Blur was seen strapped to a chair, eyes forced open was made to watch a number of videos at once for 27 hours and going. They even had to bring in more servers just to keep up with the speed of his brain. Blur was made to watch a mix of execution and secret celebrity sex tapes from old S.H.I.E.L.D. archives.[3]
Due to his powers, Stanley occupied his personal time working at numerous jobs, namely as a mail carrier, window washer, dog walker, barista and computer programmer. Sometimes doing all of these activities in the same day.[3]
Blur and his team were brought in to meet General Ross in order to be the U.S.'s response to the now-unaligned Avengers.[4] The Squadron Supreme was later put to the test against King Namor and his Defenders of the Deep, countering several attacks against Roxxon in American waters.[5][6]
After the death of General Ross[7] Blur's teammate Col. Joseph Ledger now incharge, was seen with Coulson who showed him the conditioning and manipulation they were putting the team through. Ledger became angry and started questioning Coulson. Seeing what Coulson was doing as torturing fellow citizens, Ledger wanted it all shut down. But Coulson uttered a trigger phrase putting him under control, revealing that what he was doing to Blur and the others he was also doing to Ledger.[3]
Stanley was working on programming when a group of Frost Giants from Jotunheim invaded Washington on behalf of Malekith the Accursed during his War of the Realms. As Blur, Stewart met up with the rest of the Squadron. They killed some of the Frost Giants and routed the remaining invaders to the Canadian frontier in Lake Erie. Coulson subsequently dispatched the team to Ohio.[3]
Coulson attempted to warp reality using the Pandemonium Cube provided by Mephisto,[1] creating Earth-21798, where the Avengers never existed and the Squadron Supreme were the world's premiere superhero team.[8] Reality was eventually restored by Blade the Vampire Hunter and his team of Avengers. So, Mephisto punished Coulson by trapping him in the Pandemonium Cube. Without Coulson, the Squadron Supreme fell apart, and Blur was taken into government custody. When reality returned to normal, Blur possessed his Earth-21798 counterpart's memories. This left him emotionally devastated as he was well-liked on Earth-21798 and asked the officials questioning him if they could send him back there while the officials told him that Stanley Stewart didn't officially exist.[1]
Later on, Blur and remnants of the Squadron Supreme of America were seen in Western Russia's Ural Mountains where Hyperion had gone to hide and get help from Red Widow. Once they arrived, Doctor Spectrum attempted to arrest the Red Widow under the believe she was using Red Room brainwashing techniques on Hyperion. But Power Princess had other plans and killed Doctor Spectrum and took his Power Prism for herself. Blur turned his attention on Red Widow and a mix of talking to himself and Power Princess he debated as to whether or not he should kill her. But Power Princess halted him and reminded him that they were no longer puppets of Governments or Devils, and that Red Widow would understand this. Red Widow revealed to them that she was using these techniques to help Hyperion undo what was done to him. Power Princess like that, and to Hyperion's horror she would allow Red Widow to continue, seemingly for Power Princess's own ends.[9]Attributes
