History
Thumbnail was the muscle of Knot, a Badoon bounty hunter looking for the Mandalay Gem. They found it in an orphanage of a planet, where Star-Lord was also looking for it. Knot took the gem and Star-Lord prisoner.
When Quill escaped captivity and blew up a part of the ship, Thumbail was sucked out by the void of space, and most probably died.[1]See Also
