Daniel Dae Kim (born 4 August 1968; age 56) is a Korean-American actor who played Gotana-Retz in the Star Trek: Voyager sixth season episode "Blink of an Eye" and D. Chang in the Star Trek: Enterprise third season episodes "The Xindi", "Extinction", and "Hatchery".

His EV under suit from the episode "Hatchery" was sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay and previously worn by Nathan Anderson in "Anomaly (ENT)". [1](X)

Kim was born in Busan, South Korea and his various other television credits include appearances in numerous cult hits, including a starring role on J. Michael Straczynski's Crusade, co-starring Gary Cole, Tracy Scoggins and Marjean Holden; Angel, 24, and as Jin in J.J. Abrams' and Damon Lindelof's Lost, with Terry O'Quinn and Sam Anderson.

Kim appeared briefly as a doctor in the emergency room scene in For the Love of the Game (1999).

Kim also shared scenes with future Enterprise co-star and fellow MACO Steven Culp in the 2000 made for TV movie, Murder, She Wrote: A Story to Die For. Duncan Regehr, Henri Lubatti, and J. Patrick McCormack were also part of the cast in this movie.

Kim was rumored to be up for the role of Hikaru Sulu in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. [2] The role ultimately went to John Cho.

Between 2010 and 2020, he co-starred in Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci's Hawaii Five-0 as Chin Ho Kelly, with William Sadler as his former Honolulu PD training officer/partner and Steve McGarrett's father, and Sidney Liufau as his cousin Sid. Terry O'Quinn was also a recurring character in the series. During this same timeframe, Kim also provides the voice of Johnny Gat in the Saints Row series of video games, which also featured Michael Dorn as the voice of Maero.

On 19 March 2020, Kim announced he had tested positive for COVID-19, during the COVID-19 pandemic of that year, and spoke out against the racism towards Asian people attached to the virus. Kim later announced, on 30 March 2020 that he had fully recovered. (citation needed • edit)
