List of Unnamed Federation starships of the Akira-class.
Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards []
In 2371, at least four of these starships were being constructed at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in orbit of Mars. (VOY: "Relativity")
This appearance is the earliest dated Akira-class appearance in the series, showing that the class existed at least two years prior to its 2373 appearance in Star Trek: First Contact.
Battle of Sector 001 []
In 2373, these starships, including the USS Thunderchild, fought against the Borg in the Battle of Sector 001. At least one was destroyed. (Star Trek: First Contact)
Second Fleet []
In late 2373, several of these starships belonged to the Second Fleet.
While the Dominion attacked Deep Space 9, during the second Battle of Deep Space 9, several of these vessels crossed the Cardassian border and destroyed the Dominion shipyards on Torros III. These ships later joined with the USS Defiant and IKS Rotarran, following the evacuation of DS9, for a counterattack against the Dominion forces. (DS9: "Call to Arms")
The following year, a vessel of this class was seen among the Second Fleet after an unsuccessful offensive against the Dominion. (DS9: "A Time to Stand")
Operation Return []
In 2374, these starships gradually came together, composed of elements from the Second and Fifth Fleets at Starbase 375, in order to prepare to retake Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Favor the Bold", "Sacrifice of Angels")
DS9 patrol []
In 2374 and 2375, this starship, along with an Steamrunner-class starship and a Saber-class starship, were on patrol near Deep Space 9 in 2374 and early 2375. (DS9: "Statistical Probabilities", "The Magnificent Ferengi", "Afterimage")
Recapture of the USS Prometheus []
In 2374, this starship, together with two Defiant-class escorts, attacked the Starfleet prototype USS Prometheus, as well as three Romulan D'deridex-class Warbirds in order to prevent the Tal Shiar from stealing the ship. (VOY: "Message in a Bottle")
According to the Star Trek Fact Files, this ship is called the USS Spector, with a registry of NCC-65549. It has been generally assumed that this label was applied to the Akira model in its Voyager appearance, since most of the other Fact Files listings have been directly sourced from the visual effects teams creating the CGIs.
According to the Starships RPG sourcebook, this ship is called the USS Spector, with a registry of NCC-63015.
First Battle of Chin'toka []
In late 2374, several of these starships were involved in the first Battle of Chin'toka. Three of these ships were destroyed after sustained attacks from Cardassian orbital weapon platforms. The destruction of one such vessel caused severe damage to the USS Valley Forge. (DS9: "Tears of the Prophets")
An NCC number can be seen on the Akira-class starship in the third image. Its registry is similar to the USS Thunderchild
According to the Starships RPG sourcebook, one of the Akira-class ships destroyed in the Chin'toka system was the USS Geronimo (NCC-62501).
Second Battle of Chin'toka []
This starship fought at the second Battle of Chin'toka in 2375 where it was destroyed by the Breen. (DS9: "The Changing Face of Evil")
Battle of Cardassia []
In late 2375, this starship was involved in the Battle of Cardassia. This ship would survive the battle and joined the combined Federation, Klingon, Romulan and Cardassian fleet on its mission to liberate Cardassia Prime from the Dominion. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")
Fleet assembled near Earth []
In 2378 a transwarp aperture opened less than a light year from Earth. Admiral Owen Paris ordered all ships in the area to converge on the aperture. At least three starships were part of the fleet that assembled and engaged the Borg sphere that emerged from the transwarp conduit. (VOY: "Endgame")
Pakled investigation []
In 2381, this starship participated in a secret Starfleet investigation into the destruction of Pakled Planet by a Varuvian bomb. It entered the Romulan Neutral Zone and captured a Retellian freighter carrying a Zakdorn data fabricator, who had been hired by the Pakleds to forge evidence implicating Captain Carol Freeman in the bombing. (LD: "Grounded")
Portelo system space station []
Later in 2381, this starship was docked at a space station in the Portelo system during the USS Cerritos' mission to escort the USS Voyager to Earth. (LD: "Twovix")
USS Protostar intercept[]
Several Akira-class ships, including the USS Thunderchild, were tasked with intercepting the USS Protostar in 2384. Several were lost in the following battle after falling under the influence of the Living construct. (PRO: "Mindwalk", "Supernova, Part 1", "Supernova, Part 2")
