Jonathan Baca (born 14 May 1984; age 40) is an actor who appeared as a Starfleet cadet in Star Trek. As a background actor he received no credit for his performance. Baca was cast after he attended the open casting call for Star Trek. While on set he saw Chris Pine and Karl Urban and during lunch break he was mistaken for being Karl Urban by a guy. [1]

Baca was born as Jonathan Philip McDonald in Dallas, Texas and studied at the Collin College Quad C Theatre Department in PLano, Texas. After moving to Los Angeles, he attended the The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and was taught by Lynn Redgrave, Marc Marno, and Anne De Salvo.

Prior to his work on Star Trek he was a background extra in the comic adaptation Spider-Man 3 (2007, with Kirsten Dunst, James Cromwell, Becky Ann Baker, Michael Papajohn, Gregg Daniel, Robert Curtis Brown, Paul Terrell Clayton, Reynaldo Gallegos, and Christopher Jude) and was featured in the short drama The Cross Before Me (2008) and the short comedy Late Night Burrito Place (2008) beside several independent productions.
