Lawrence Monoson (born 11 August 1964; age 60) is the actor who played the role of Hovath in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine first season episode "The Storyteller". Archive footage of Monoson from "The Storyteller" was later re-used in the seventh season episode "What You Leave Behind". In 2001, he appeared as First Officer Matthew Ryan in the Star Trek: Enterprise first season episode "Fortunate Son".

Monoson first appeared at the age of sixteen as the star of The Last American Virgin (1982, co-starring Phil Rubenstein). He followed this with supporting roles in such films as Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984, with Erich Anderson), Mask (1984, with Andrew Robinson and Wayne Grace), and Gaby: A True Story (1987, co-starring with Robert Beltran).

In 1991, he starred alongside Keith Carradine and Jeff Corey in the television movie Payoff. The following year, he made a brief, uncredited appearance in the film Final Judgement, starring Brad Dourif, and in 1993, he co-starred with Reg E. Cathey, David Clennon, Thomas Kopache, and Saul Rubinek in And the Band Played On, for which he received a CableACE Award nomination. This was followed with a brief recurring role on Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1994, along with Dina Meyer, and a role opposite Casey Biggs in the 1996 television movie A Promise to Carolyn.

Other television credits include appearances on JAG, Touched by an Angel, Murder, She Wrote, Chicago Hope (1997, starring Jayne Brook), The Practice, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2002, starring Paul Guilfoyle), CSI: Miami, and 24. In 1999, he appeared with Daphne Ashbrook and Lawrence Pressman in an episode of Profiler and ER (1999–2000, starring Eriq La Salle, with Rosalind Chao and Gabrielle Union).

Monoson had a recurring role as Joey "The Rock" Manelli on Resurrection Blvd., starring Tony Plana and co-starring Ray Wise. He also appeared as Lieutenant Pavlov Dill in Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004, with Ed Lauter, Brenda Strong, Bobby C. King, and Oliver Keller).

Among his later acting work are guest roles in episodes of Without a Trace (2006, with Enrique Murciano), The Closer (2007, with Raymond Cruz, Gina Ravarra, Robert Picardo, and James Avery and created by and executive produced by James Duff), Dark Blue (2009), Cold Case (2009, with Tzi Ma and Irene Tsu), and CSI: NY (2010, with Robert Joy).

Today, Monoson has been working as president of Monovision Productions in the Los Angeles area. [1]
