See Mitchell for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Craig Mitchell was a Human Starfleet officer in the 2370s. In 2373 he was serving as an engineer on the USS Excalibur. He transferred to the USS Excalibur-A after the destruction of the first ship in 2376, where he was assigned as chief engineer.

He was still aboard the Excalibur in 2381 when the vessel was assigned to protect Starbase 343 from the invasion of the Borg Collective. Captain Mackenzie Calhoun attempted to utilize the same phase inversion technique that the USS Ranger successfully used to defend Khitomer, but the Borg had already adapted. Instead, Mitchell rigged a salvo of torpedoes with phase inverters, each set to a different variance, which was able to destroy the Borg cube. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night)
