Namesakes[]
John Glenn was an American Human astronaut in the 20th and 21st centuries. In 1998, he participated in mission STS-95 aboard the space shuttle Discovery (OV-103). (Star Trek Magazine Issue 162: "Blast Off!")
In the 2250s, Starfleet commissioned the Crossfield-class science vessel USS Glenn (NCC-1030). Alongside its sister ship, the USS Discovery (NCC-1031), the Glenn experimented with a displacement-activated spore hub drive that allowed instantaneous movement across interstellar space. A more directly named USS John Glenn also operated in the 23rd century. (SOTL calendar: 2011)
