The Lifaq, or Lafaq, family was an Orion family and a member of the Orion Frontier Mercantile Association.

They possessed a number of planets within the Triangle, an area of space that bordered the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Empire, and sat directly upon the route through the Klingon Neutral Zone from the Orion Neutrality Area.

The Lifaq family joined the other worlds of the Orion Frontier Mercantile Association in declaring independence from the Botchok Planetary Congress in the mid-23rd century. Though it was not among the most powerful of Orion families, through the Association the Lifaq family became a dominant and influential force within the Triangle.

In reference stardate 2/1107 (c. 2270), the Lifaq family was finally successful in sending a trade mission to the Romulans at H'lass. However, a permanent agreement could not be reached: the Romulans wanted guaranteed delivery, while the Lifaqs wanted a guaranteed price. Nevertheless, the potential Romulan market continued to attract Orions to the Triangle. (FASA RPG module: The Orions: Book of Deep Knowledge)
