Neil Alden Armstrong (5 August 1930 – 25 August 2012) was a Human man who was born on Earth. An astronaut, Armstrong commanded the Apollo 11 flight to Luna. On 20 July 1969, Armstrong made history as the first human to walk on the surface of Earth's moon. He had also served as command pilot of NASA's Gemini 8 mission in 1966.

In 2154, Captain Jonathan Archer and Daniels saw an image of Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walking on the Moon in the time stream as the timeline reset itself. (ENT episode: "Storm Front")
During Starfleet Fleet Admiral Karis Tatenen's retelling of the Battle of Vonra aboard the USS Enterprise in 2277, Admiral James T. Kirk compared it to Armstrong talking about the moon landing. (TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "The Blaze of Glory")
The United Federation of Planets Starfleet honored Armstrong by naming several vessels and a starship class after him. A large lake created on the surface of Luna which was visible from Earth was named Lake Armstrong in honor of Armstrong. Starbase Neil Armstrong was also named for him. In late 2379, Lieutenant Commander Nidani Ledrah believed that Captain William T. Riker had named the shuttlecraft Armstrong after Neil, but he informed her it was named after jazz musician Louis Armstrong. (TTN novel: Taking Wing)

- The mirror universe opening credits of ENT episode: "In a Mirror, Darkly" depicted an astronaut planting the flag of the Terran Empire on the surface of the Moon. It is unknown whether or not this was intended to be Armstrong's mirror universe counterpart.
