Osyraa was a Orion female and Minister[1] of the Emerald Chain in the 3180s.

Biography[]

As the Emerald Chain's leader, Ossyra had her own brother killed when he challenged her for control of the Chain's various mercantile exchanges. She took in her nephew, Tolor and had him placed in charge of the Hunhua's salvage yard. Ossyra also dealt with Ryn when attempted to rally the people against the chain by hacking off his antennae and forcing him to implant explosive devices to Hunhua's slaves. (DSC episodes: "The Sanctuary", "Scavengers")

In 3189, following the slaves' escape from Hunhua, Ossyra arrived to speak with Tolor about Ryn's and Cleveland Booker's escape. Despite her complicated feelings, Ossyra executed her nephew by feeding to a tranceworm. She then took the Viridian to Kwejian. There, she withheld the sea locust repellent from it's people in order to force Steward Kyheem to contact Booker. Ossyra and the Viridian then returned to Kwejian, where they came across the USS Discovery under Captain Saru. (DSC episode: "Scavengers")

Upon her arrival, Osyraa demanded that Discovery surrender Ryn to her for breaking his contract or she would attack Kwejian. She then spoke with Kyheem and demanded that he turn over his brother and Commander Burnham to her. Kyheem hesitated until Osyraa ordered the Viridian to bombard the Kwejian's surface. However, Lt. Keyla Detmer and Ryn were able to use Booker's ship to stop the Viridian's attack. Osyraa was then contacted by Saru who offered assistance to her. Osyraa told Discovery's crew that the Federation would feel the full weight of the chain. She then left Kwejian. (DSC episode: "The Sanctuary")

Osyraa and the Viridian were able to track Discovery to the Verubin Nebula. Using a Transwarp conduit, she was able to find Discovery. After both ships cloaked, Osyraa contacted Discovery's XO, Ensign Sylvia Tilly and demanded that she surrender Discovery to her. When Su'Kal almost caused another burn, Osyraa had the Viridian latch onto Discovery. She and her regulators were able to board and take control of Discovery. Osyraa then had Discovery take both itself and the Viridian to Federation Headquarters. (DSC episode: "Su'Kal")

Osyraa was able to fool Federation HQ to let Discovery into the distortion field. Osyraa left Zareh in charge of Discovery while she entered into negotiations with Starfleet's C-in-C, Fleet admiral Charles Vance. Despite her promises to end the Chain's prime directive violations and slave operations, Osyraa refused to be tried for crimes. Thus, she ended negotiations and returned to Discovery. There, she demanded Ryn to restore Discovery's sensors but he refused. Despite Booker offering her Theta Zeta's dilithium stockpile, Osyraa vaporized Ryn. (DSC episode: "There Is A Tide...")

Osyraa attempted to escape the distortion field with help from the Viridian, but were confronted by Ni'Var's fleet. Angered by Burnham taking Commander Stamets off Discovery, Osyraa ordered the Viridian to deploy it's pesticides against Ni'Var's and the Federation's fleet. However, she was convinced by Burnham to contact Vance. Despite her concerns, Burnham was able to convince Vance to let Discovery go. (DSC episode: "That Hope Is You, Part 2")
