For other uses, see Zahl.

Zahl II, also called Zahlna II, was a planet located in the Zahl system in the Vyntadi sector block's Alsuran sector in the galaxy's Delta Quadrant. It was the homeworld of the Zahl civilization. (VOY episode: "Year of Hell"; STO - Better with Friends mission: "Blockade Runner")

History[]

The Zahl originated on Sormana, as did the Rilnar. The population that remained on that planet continued to fight each other in a war while the space-based Rilnar and Zahl civilizations entered a shaky truce. (VOY novel: A Pocket Full of Lies)

Zahl II was a major trade hub in its sector.

The Zahl homeworld was in close proximity to the Krenim Imperium, allowing the Imperium contact with the planet and its inhabitants. The Zahl had confrontations with the Krenim, but the two species were able to settle their differences and were allied for over 50 years. After the Imperium fell to the Vaadwaur Supremacy, the Zahl gave assistance to Krenim refugees and opened a nearby habitable planetoid for their use. (STO - Better with Friends mission: "Blockade Runner")

Alternate timeline[]

In an alternate timeline in the year 2374, the Krenim used their temporal weapon ship to erase the Zahl homeworld and all inhabitants from history. The planet was restored after the destruction of the weapon ship by USS Voyager. (VOY episode: "Year of Hell")
