The Terran Empire was the brutal empire originating on the planet Earth, which subjugated and exploited many species before the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance in the 23rd century liberated these species and absorbed the Empire. (DS9: "Crossover")

History[]

First Contact[]

The Empire's earliest recorded contact with another species took place in April 2063, when a small invasion force of Vulcans landed in Bozeman, Montana. Zefram Cochrane and other residents of the town, viciously repelled the assault. The Terrans proceeded to raid the Vulcan ship and steal enough technology to overcome the Empire's own technical inadequacies, advancing the Empire into an interstellar power. Early Conquest and the Seeds of Dissent[]

The Empire's lust for power led them to conquer many nearby civilizations with the help of its newly-established Imperial Starfleet. After nearly one hundred years of rapid expansion, a unified Anti-Terran Rebellion formed from the remnants of the conquered civilizations that was able to inflict heavy defeats to the Empire, culminating in the Battle of Tau Ceti, during which twelve Imperial vessels were lost, a significant number for the time. Fortunately for the crumbling Empire, the acquisition of the USS Defiant from the Tholians quickly ended the Rebellion, which lead to the ascension of Empress Hoshi Sato through a bloody coup, beginning an era of Terran dominance that would not be challenged for a hundred years. The Great Fall[]

In 2267, the captain of the ISS Enterprise, James T. Kirk, as well as other members of his senior staff, were replaced by their counterparts from the mirror universe. Following this event, Kirk's then-first officer, a Vulcan named Spock, quickly rose to the position of commander-in-chief of the Empire. During his regency, influenced by the foolish fairy tales told to him by the mirror Kirk, Spock initiated several reforms intended to democratize the Empire, which lead it into decadence. In the glorious war that followed, the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance crushed the Empire, occupied its former territories, liberated the Empire's subjugated species and enslaved the Terrans.
