Short Summary[]

A Comprehensive Anatomy 1 Hosts

The hosts of the recap, Yamato and Momonosuke.

Yamato and Momonosuke retell the adventures of the legendary Kouzuki Oden, the hero of the Land of Wano, and the great life that he lived.

Long Summary[]

The special opens with Yamato and Momonosuke breaking the fourth wall, introducing themselves and then giving an introduction to the episode ahead.

The story starts with Oden proclaiming that Wano is too restrictive for him and that he wants to explore the world.

He was born as the Shogun's son and heir but was always troublesome as a child. He dreamed of leaving the country and exploring the world outside of Wano. However, try as he may, he was far too unskilled as a sailor and thus failed to set out to sea even with so many attempts.

In one of his adventures, he sees a white boar in the hands of two men, who we find out later to be Kin'emon and Denjiro, and he demands that they give it to him. The next scene shows a humongous white boar, that happens to be a Mountain God that was looking for its babe, rampaging in the Flower Capital. Oden slashes it to stop the rampage. Oden's troublemaking led his father to send him a "Notice of Disavowal." Oden claims that this is because his father and the Flower Capital can no longer handle him. He accepts the disavowal and leaves the capital. Oden's feat with the Mountain God instills in Kin'emon and Denjiro such great admiration that they follow him wherever he goes.

On his next adventure, he takes down the "Monster of Kuri", Ashura Doji who is a known criminal. He then rehabilitates the once lawless land of Kuri and becomes its Daimyo. He tells Kin'emon, Denjiro, Kanjuro, Raizo, Izou, and Kikunojo to help him with their wisdom and strength as he has decided to become their king. He says that if he were to be a Daimyo, he would need vassals. He then asks them, including Ashura, to be his samurai, which they tearfully accept. Sometime later, Oden saves Inuarashi, Nekomamushi, and Kawamatsu who were caught by villagers. They then also become his vassals. The now-sworn vassals are shown to be furthering their education to acquire manners as his vassals and so that they are able to effectively support Oden in his rule. Kin'emon and the others who were once seen as hoodlums return to the Flower Capital well-polished, much to the townspeople's surprise.

One fateful day, the Whitebeard Pirates came upon Wano when their ship runs aground. Oden sees the pirate ship and, with barely any knowledge of the outside world, much less of Whitebeard, excitedly charges onto the crew and asks them to let him sail with them outside of Wano. Whitebeard did not want him to come with them, so they sailed off without him. Undeterred, Oden ran and hung onto Whitebeard's ship and forced himself aboard. Whitebeard compromised saying that if he could hold onto the chain and be dragged by the ship for three days, he will be welcome onboard. He was about to complete the ordeal, when he heard the cries for help of a woman. He let go of the chain to save Toki, who was being pursued by ruffians. Oden successfully saved Toki, won the acceptance of Whitebeard, and finally became a member of the Whitebeard Pirates.

Oden is now considered by Whitebeard as his brother and the crew go on several adventures, exploring the many islands in the Grand Line. His story even reached Gol D. Roger, with the great Pirate King wishing to meet him. On the second year of Oden's adventure, Toki gives birth to Momonosuke aboard Whitebeard's ship.

On an island, the Whitebeard Pirates and the Roger Pirates cross paths and their captains immediately have a duel that lasts three days and three nights. Afterwards, the two pirate crews share a feast, exchange treasures and become fast friends. Roger then invites Oden to go to a journey with him to the last island. Roger shows him a rubbing of one of the Poneglyphs and is delighted to know that Oden can read it. Oden goes on to say that his knowledge of the Poneglyphs has been passed down from in his family for generations. It is then Roger tells both Oden and Whitebeard that he believes that there is a final island, whose location can be determined through the Poneglyphs. He then asks Whitebeard if he could lend Oden to him, which Whitebeard initially refuses to do as this is like taking away his family from him. However, Oden cannot help but feel excited by the information he was being told. He believes that him meeting Roger was meant to be, so he tells Whitebeard that he wants to go and begs him to be allowed to do so.

The second chapter of Oden's life as a pirate begins on board Roger's ship. With him are his wife Toki, his son Momonusuke and his daughter, Hiyori. Roger and Silvers Rayleigh are seen playing with his children, while the rest of the crew are singing Binks' Sake. They arrive at Skypiea and find the Poneglyph at the base of the Belfry. Oden is seen engraving something at the base of the golden bell. Next, they go to Water 7 and meet with Tom the Shipwright. Then they travel to the bottom of the ocean towards Fish-Man Island. Before they travel towards the last island, they return to Wano where they are received by some of his Oden's vassals. Toki, Momonusuke, and Hiyori leave the ship to await Oden's return to Wano. Roger and Oden reach the final island and see before them the extraordinary treasure that is believed to be the One Piece. Roger disbands the Roger Pirates and his crew cries in sadness at the news. Roger leaves the ship and Oden makes his return to Wano.

Upon arrivial, Oden finds out that Wano has been taken over by Orochi and finds out that his family was attacked while he was away. He raids the castle where the new Shogun resides but somehow does not kill him. Instead, he is seen dancing naked for some unknown reason. This went on every week for five years and Oden danced naked for everyone to see, losing the respect of the townspeople. Meanwhile, Oden finds out about Roger's death and is in tears.

After five years, Oden goes to Orochi and tells him that the "time has come" but Orochi says that he does not remember to what Oden is referring. Orochi breaks his promise with Oden. Angered, Oden decides to take down Kaidou himself and marches on to Kaidou's castle, with his vassals faithfully following him. We find out that Oden was dancing in order to save the lives of people who have been kidnapped into slavery.

A fierce battle between Kaidou and Oden ensues. As Oden is about to deliver a massive blow, he is distracted by one of Kaidou's men taking Momonosuke as hostage. However, it turns out that it was merely a fake Momonosuke serving as a distraction, causing Oden's defeat against Kaidou. Oden and his vassals are captured and are sentenced to death by boiling in a public execution.

Finding a way to save his vassals, Oden asks Kaidou to set whatever limit he wanted, and if any of them survived in that duration, they must be set free. Kaidou accepts and gives them an hour to survive. Oden steps into a cauldron filled with boiling oil. Before his vassals could step inside, however, he instructs them to stand on a plank which he carries while being submerged in the boiling oil. Moved by Oden's actions, Shinobu reveals to the onlooking townspeople the real reason as to why Oden was dancing naked on the streets for the past five years. She says that this is a form of apology towards the members of the Kurozumi Family and to save one hundred lives with each dance.

After one hour had passed, Oden shouts his last command to his vassals to open Wano and throws them off the plank to escape towards Kuri. Despite surviving for one hour, Kaidou still has Oden shot, and is killed with a smile on his face. His last words were "Oden would not be oden if he were not boiled."

The vassals make their escape and return to Kuri to protect Oden's family. Using Toki's powers, Momonusuke, Kin'emon, Kanjuro, Raizo, and Kikunojo were sent twenty years into the future. They go on to recruit allies including the Straw Hat Pirates.

The special ends with Yamato and Momonosuke giving their closing remarks for the episode.
