Jack receives this information just prior to the forwarding of a valuable freight shipment. He determines to accompany this shipment to the end of his division. The young inspector is deeply in love with Jane. His father opposes the match, thinking the girl unworthy of his sou. Jack is bidding Jane goodbye just before the freight train pulls out when Ballard interferes. Rather than come between father and son, Jane, brokenhearted, leaves. Her departure causes a quarrel between Jack and his father. Jane overhears the two car thieves plot to rob the freight. She tells Ballard what she has learned. The latter telegraphs ahead to intercept the train, but is too late. Jane, hearing this, picks up Ballard's revolver, jumps into his auto, which is standing outside, and goes in pursuit of the train. Jack, seated on top of one of the freight cars, is made prisoner by Bad Bill, who then directs the looting of the car. Jane overtakes the freight train, leaps aboard the last car and climbs to the top. She sees her sweetheart's predicament. The brave girl holds up Bad Bill with her pistol. A ruse by the bandit chief causes her to turn her head for a moment and the thief takes the opportunity to jump off the car into a lake which they are just passing. Nothing daunted, Jane leaps after the bandit. Jack's father has notified the authorities and a locomotive carrying detectives is sent to the rescue. They overhaul the freight train and capture Bad Bill's confederates. A moment later, Jane, dripping wet, but with revolver still leveled, marches up with her prisoner. Her courage arouses the admiration of Jack's father and he gives his consent to their marriage. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
