Community Partners

Cross-pollination and Collaboration

One of the best byproducts of SCFD is the partnerships that flourish between funded cultural organizations, the SCFD, and its partners. These continue to develop and evolve as our community of organizations look upon each other for inspiration and potential. Exciting collaborations have brought music into our gardens, dance companies choreographing combined performances, and art museums providing access to each other’s collections with a single ticket. And much more. There’s an energy, a momentum in the cultural arts and sciences that continues to grow in our community. Life here is more colorful because of it.

Teen Council

SCFD Teen Council is an inspired group of kids from across the metro area who are enthusiastic to support arts and culture in their communities and engage other teens in the effort. Their mission is to explore, enjoy and reflect on the cultural and scientific opportunities available for teens within their communities with the goal of engaging a broad range of young people to tell the SCFD story and encourage others to join in the discoveries. SCFD is always on the search for ambitious, hardworking teens to provide leadership while working with other teens to support the goals and efforts of the SCFD. You can see Teen Council activities on their Instagram page or apply for the council yourself for a one-year term.

Please check The Teen Council website for information on how to get involved!

The Collaborative of the SCFD

The Collaborative of the SCFD (formerly The Scientific & Cultural Collaborative (SCC), is a non-profit organization comprised of organizations funded by the SCFD. Since 1994, The Collaborative has worked together by investing a portion of their SCFD awards into joint efforts to do things together that we could not do alone through collaboration, regional service, and accessibility. Activities include:

  • Explorable Places: an online platform that helps educators and parents discover workshops, assemblies, field trips, and professional teacher training from more than 30 arts, culture, and science organizations. Teachers/parents can use filtered searches at no cost.
  • The Collaborative SCFD K-12 Grant: provides selected public schools in each of the seven counties a two year grant that provides curriculum-based programming at the teachers’ request. The Collaborative Program Coordinator works with a team of interdisciplinary teachers who suggest programs to supplement their curriculum. The unique nature of The Collaborative SCFD K-12 Grant program allows teacher teams to request tailor-made workshops as well as request in-school exhibits, field trips, and assemblies. Bus and substitute teacher support is also available. Applications are due every two years in April.

CBCA

The Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) works to advance Colorado’s creative economy by connecting business and the arts. The organization focuses on year-round advocacy, research, training, and arts engagement efforts including a biennial report that quantifies the economic contributions that arts and culture make on the Denver metro area.
