The Unnamed Binary Star System is a system near Gamma Hydra. The exact location and name of the system is unclear, however in 2256 it was on the outermost reaches of the Federation, and very near to Klingon space.
In 2256, a Federation relay in the system was sabotaged which led to a series of events culminating in the Battle of the Binary Stars that ignited the first full scale Federation-Klingon War.

“Battle at the Binary Stars”: The holographic simulation of the battle with which began the first Federation-Klingon conflict takes place in this star system.
