Respondents vs. Responses

Respondents: The number of people who answered a survey. For most question types, each respondent provides only one answer to a question, but in the case of multiple-answer questions, one respondent can provide more than one answer.

Responses: The number of answers provided by the people who answered a survey. For most question types, the number of responses is equal to the number of respondents, but in the case of multiple-answer questions, the number of responses is greater than or equal to the number of respondents.
