As an award-winning provider of healthy lifestyle programmes, we recognise the importance of community health provision to help reduce health inequalities. In Thurrock, we’ve been delivering healthy lifestyle programmes for families since September 2023. As part of our work to help reduce child obesity, we conducted more than 100 interviews and collaborated with a range of stakeholder groups to ensure a multi-layered perspective on the issues at hand. Our findings illustrate the need for a whole system approach to tackle child weight management, leveraging local community assets and educational support whilst helping to empower families to make healthy long-term lifestyle changes.
