Brownbackground

[edit]

Is "brownbackground (section=5) for Li Na" means she retirement from professional tennis? 333-blue (talk) 14:03, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Doubles tournaments?

[edit]

The singles points columns show what type of tournament was played... Majoes, P.Mandatory, P.5, best other. Not so the doubles table. I have no idea what points go to what type of event. We need another row above that tells our readers what the points are for. Fyunck(click) (talk) 09:03, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In regards to the other questions & Players table Modification

[edit]

The brown background definitely indicates Li Na's retirement but there isn't any indication that that is what the brown signifies. So that should definitely be added.

For doubles teams, the points can be derived from a combination of any tournaments, unlike singles in which they must be derived from the 4 grand slams, the 4 premier mandatories, the best 2 premier 5, and the best results otherwise. To see where the points come from for the doubles teams, simply click on the result and it takes you the tournament in question.

As for the singles player's points table, should it now be condensed to those players who can only possibly qualify (along with the already qualified players). With the year coming to a close, any player now ranked below Flavia Pennetta cannot qualify. Pennetta can only qualify if she wins Beijing and Moscow AND Wozniacki does not add to her current point total. Also, due to poor results in Beijing, Errani, Cibulkova, and Jankovic are all out as well. I think we should condense the table to show this. OR use a different color background for players out of contention.

The brown/bronze does not indicate retirement. It is also used for injuries or whenever a player has signified they will not compete in the tour finals. Where the doubles points may come from should be explained right up front so as not to confuse readers. Fyunck(click) (talk) 18:30, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I added a section under the Tournament headline to explain point total calculations

Points and Prize Money

[edit]

Can someone please create a section on Points and Prize Money as with other WTA tournaments. 41.134.180.203 (talk) 13:12, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Standings

[edit]

Can someone also add a section to show the standings - wins and losses of all players during the WTA Finals tourney? And why are there two different tables showing the players' WTA point totals? One "big" table showing all the relevant and leaving away redundant data would suffice. The tables under "Race to finals" should go to the "Qualified Players" section replacing the smaller tables there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.35.149.166 (talk)

Standings are in 2014 WTA Finals – Singles and 2014 WTA Finals – Doubles which are linked in several places. The table in "Race to the Finals" was updated during the season so progress could be followed. Players were then added to "Qualified Players" with a summary when their qualification was certain and the progress by tournament was less important. See for example September 10 version. I don't mind that both tables are still there. "Race to the Finals" includes Li Na who retired, and the two alternates (who didn't get to play). PrimeHunter (talk) 13:38, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
