Matt Daniel Rosenlund (born July 21, 1990 in Burnaby, Canada) is a Canadian footballer currently playing for Abbotsford Mariners in the USL Premier Development League. Rosenlund plays most often as a Winger but has also found success while playing as a Right back. Rosenlund`s successes come from his good pace, ability to make constant runs up and down the right flank, and provide good service into the box.
Career
Youth
Rosenlund began his youth career playing for Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC. He later signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy of the Super Y-League. After spending a couple of years playing for the Whitecaps he signed with the Abbotsford Mariners also of the Super Y-League. In his last year of youth soccer he went back to Coquitlam to play for a very promising Coquitlam Metro-Ford side that finished 4th at the British Columbia Provincial Soccer Championship. Rosenlund was a key player in his teams run to the provincials having claimed MVP honors at the clubs regional final.
Professional
After a successful youth campaign, Rosenlund was quickly signed by Surrey United of the Pacific Coast Soccer League. He scored on his Surrey United debut on May 9, 2009 appearing as a substitute during a 3-1 win over Whitecaps FC Prospects[1]. During the off season Rosenlund played for local outfit PoCo Rangers FC[2][3].
In 2010, Rosenlund was signed by the Abbotsford Mariners of the USL Premier Development League. He made his debut for Abbotsford on May 14, 2010 in a 3-3 draw against his former club the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency[4].
Personal Life
Rosenlund was born in Burnaby, BC to Bob & Lori Rosenlund. He grew up in Port Coquitlam with his parents and two brothers, older brother Tyler Rosenlund who currently plays for Rochester Rhinos of the USSF Division 2 Professional League and younger brother Cole Rosenlund.
