IFFCO Group
IFFCO Group is a business house based in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. Founded in 1975 by Indian entrepreneur Abdul Razak Allana, the company is today managed by his sons Feroz, Irfan and Shiraz.[1] IFFCO runs 95 operations in 49 countries globally, with some 80 brands in the F&B, beauty, agri-business and packaging sectors and sales operations in 105 countries.[2]
In 2006, IFFCO consolidated much of its UAE-based export F&B production in a $275 million factory at Dubai Industrial City,[3] including products sold under the Noor, London Dairy, Al Baker & Tiffany brands.[4] In 2010 it opened a 500,000 square metre logistics support and export facility in the zone. In addition to production plants in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Al Ain to support the local UAE market, it has oil refining plants in Egypt, Pakistan and Tunisia.[5] The company's Igloo and London Dairy brands dominate the UAE's AED 650 million ice cream market.[6]
The company moved into real estate in 2005, developing Tiffany Tower with Nakheel.[7] In 2021 IFFCO was ranked 15th Top Global Specialty Oil Company by FoodTalks.[8] In 2023 it opened the first plant based food production facility in the Middle East[9] under the 'Thryve' brand.[10][11]
A fire broke out at a facility owned by IFFCO subsidiary Emirates Oil Refining Company (ERCO) in 2008, gutting some 10,000 metres of warehouse, cold storage and plastic container facilities, and injuring three workers. The plant had a daily processing capacity of some 500 tonnes of edible oil. Officials at the time asserted that the oil depot's owners were 'not following safety procedures'.[12]
