new section added on

I would suggest that a new section be added that can specifically cover all of the april fools joke. THis can be added to by people and critiqued here. just a suggestion. Does any one agree??

btw does anyone listen to 360 on sudays...I know I don't becuase I hate it...just wondering bacuase its one of my pet peeeves about bru...my only pet peeve actually

i mainly listen to midnight madness (sundays midnight to 2am -- well, technically on monday). despite only being on for one day out of 7, 360 gets very good ratings - Eminence32 00:45, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Repeating Information

Please do not add information before reading the article. I have seen many instances of repeated information and it is superfluous and quite frankly annoying. Also, please don't use this article as a bulletin board.

Stop Asking Questions

Seriously. The article is not the place. Discussion is.

I agree whole heartedly. And Dear god they played that horrendous song is not appropriate for the article. Also, the article is not a playlist. Unless the song is of significance or possibly if it was the last or first song of the broadcast (first of Buddy FM or last of WBRU etc) it doesn't fit.

SUPERFLUOUS!

Comments are not encyclopedia material. Also, this is not a bulletin board or a forum.

Also, there is no need to add ANY information about the WBRU.com website being UP or DOWN. Only information about the site's content is pertinent to this article. The website will be up and down due to increased traffic or server overloads or another reason NOT pertinent to this ARTICLE

NO PLAYLISTS! The article does not concern what is being played every single minute. If you don't have something to post or edit, don't add what's playing every single time. The yes.com site can offer that to people!

I do beleive that most, not all information is extremly relevant in the timeline and should be open then edited at a later date of any persoanl opinions or irrevalant information. But by closing the intial page to editing you are restricting that. Most people arent going to post on this page (the discussion page) because they wont click to it. They will just see the intial page is locked and then close it and we will miss pertinent events! sorry i wrote this twice but i feel its very important!

Vandalism...

The user Krich had wiped the "The End" and all proceeding event sections...it has been restored. ~Nite

I thank user Krich and do think that this event deserves to be covered by WIKI but not by the WBRU staff or by use of irrelevent information.

While the edits have been very messy since this is a current event and new users want to add information, I think the information should be restored and should be cleaned up after this event is over. ~Nite

whatever

Why was it erased?? this was a log of how the WBRU fans have reacted to the April Fools prank. It deserves to be part of the article and labled something like "The Day WBRU Fooled New Englan"... please return the log from 3-31 thru 4-1

Yes - please bring back the summary of "The End", I was enjoying a recap of the whole April Fools prank from beginning to end. It can be edited later, there's no reason to take it down right now. As of right now I'm not sure what's happened from 3 to 3:30 and why WBRU is playing normal music again. - Ryan

good point, although i believe if your going to post it should be pertinent info not just a opinion thats what this page is for. But whatever is added to the actual page can be edited later. I think that there should be a heading stating that all information on this page or in this section has not been verified.

I'd rather not have a log that includes every single song even the ones that weren't significant or whatever.

about discussion

If you don't like the page being updated so much, perhaps there should be a clearer statement that there is a dicussion board. I didn't even see this and learned how to get get here and make an entry until now. and I've been watching this site since this stuff started. other wise the updats are nice to have so I don't have to be glue to the radio at the time...people have lives.

Oh...well there it is. Just went up when I was typing....

I agree bring back the updates...I don't have a radio, plus living in a concrete jungle I wouldn't get the station in my room anyways.

the updates are needed

I believe registered users are allowed to edit it... quick everyone register

it is...but they arent letting new members edit either...just tried....

It appears as if a few wikipedia moderators "protected" the page so it can only be edited by already registered users and not by unregistered or new users. While it seems as if other people were vandalizing the page other then "The End" reports, it is pretty lame of wikipedia moderators to completely protect a page and revert it to it's previous state rather then all the reports. Clearly they don't understand what is going on as they have no idea not being from the RI area, but this actually is a pretty hilarious April Fool's prank and the updates and documentation were awesome in following. Thank you to those who were editing it until earlier. Shame on wikipedia moderators from not knowing what is going on (or apparently even reading the discussion page). - Ryan

Thank You

Thank you for returning the log from the past 2 days. WBRU now goes down in History for pulling an awesome prank and there is proof of the prank on WIKI.... the WIKI people should be proud to have such an event occur on their page.

Krich is the user that keeps deleting everything...he must not have a soul

wtf Krich... seriously...please just keep it up on the site... u are creating a lot of enemies by doing this

I would like to see the play by play back up on the Wiki article, minus the speculation and the commentary. I was having a great time between last night and today watching as all of the new information came pouring in. --Luna

^^Seconded --M1k3

I agree with Luna, the paly by play should be posted (an edited version) minus the opinions etc. {lease to the moderators, know that Rhode Island is a small state and BRU is a major part of it I would say. Although this is just a prank, it was a prank that pretty much took over RI and parts of MA. And the play by play is a important part of it. Atleast a summerization is in order. -about WBRU coming back and the battle between the two. -first songs and signifigant songs played, for example "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys was played when BRU came back for the first time, i'm sure everyone gets the irony in this song. -the fact that members of BRU were posting on wiki even though there opinions were of course biased. -the fact that a timeline was made and many people were editing this article and it was updated constantly, even though not all posts were true. -important times in general

All of this is very important and would be a true historical event in the history of the station. I hope not all was deleted--JohnnyBoy 21:48, 1 April 2006 (UTC)-John[reply]

I'm sorry folks, I'm sure you are having fun, but Wikipedia is not a free host, blog, or webspace provider. This type of prank information and ongoing lists are just not appropriate for the Wikipedia article. I notice most of you participating and commenting here are extremely new to Wikipedia (like within the last day), so you may not be familar with our guidelines and policies.
Please remember what Wikipedia is... an encyclopedia.
BTW, you can sign your comments by ending them with four tildes, like this ~~~~ - that will automatically sign the comments and timestamp it. Thanks, --Krich (talk) 21:43, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is my view that the April Fool prank involving "Buddy FM" was extensive and widely noticed enough so that it deserves its own article, containing many of the details that do not belong in the main article about the station. Such an article about the event would be encyclopedic because the event will be remembered for years and become historic in nature. I have been convinced from the beginning that it had to be a hoax (http://zigamorph.livejournal.com/88218.html), but a lot of people were really fooled.
Zigamorph 14:21, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

this is true that i am a new member but i have been going to wikipedia for about a year now i just wasnt a registered user JohnnyBoy 21:48, 1 April 2006 (UTC)-John[reply]

I completely agree, the wbru "prank" is part of it's history, meaning it goes in its biography. Krich, you obviously have some personal problems to sort out, but the when it was on wikipedia I was able to keep up with the major event! And it was major to many of the rock listeners in Southern New England. I myself rely heavily on Wikipedia for information not only for pop culutre such as this, but for school information. Everyone emensly enjoyed reading the updates of what happend. Stop being a poop head. -leah. registered user, but unlike some, I do have a life and refuse to log in.

Krich, I would just like to say that even if it is not put up in its entirety it is still important to the station to have it in its history at the least. this is a major part of the stations history and say some day that someone is doing a report on Radio Stations and comes across WBRU and sees that they pulled off one of the best pranks ever. That person would prolly like to be able to include something like that in their report and Wiki is the only place that would have the information on it. come on...at least allow a summary of the past days events on the page. -sami

For the curious, the website seems to have a hard time keeping up with the increased traffic. In the past three days the wbru.com website got more page hits than the site usually gets in 2 weeks.

What the hell is this about making listerns disgruntled? Thats totally fabricated bullshit, and is a very biased and unresearched addition. this is lame ~donnikhan

Yea Donni Khan

not gonna lie, i found this whole thing exciting because I got to go into Detective mode and try to find every lil bit of information that would prove my conclusion of it being a joke. It really was a lot of fun and I had a great time doing it all. And updating on wiki was awesome too cuz u get to see that other people cared as much as u did. as for "disgruntled" i know of a few listeners that were kind of annoyed by the whole thing...but for the majority of listeners taht i know of they really liked this whole thing...thought it was funny. congrats BRU... well played...but not well enough :) -Sami

vandalism

Been alot of vandal lately... Added a vprotect —Preceding unsigned comment added by Slasher600 (talkcontribs) 20:51, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed your {{vprotect}} message. Adding the template to an article does not protect a page. You need to be an admin to do that. {{vprotect}} is just a message that is added once the page is protected. —MementoVivere (talk · contribs) 10:02, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WBRU in the news

This section isn't really necessary since the information is already contained in the history section above. Also, the phrase "Their legacy continues" is needlessly POV and should be removed.--Inaxdaze 21:55, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Slasher600 tried to reinstate the same section he had added earlier. My guess is that he didn't notice it was merged into the History section. I had reached the same conclusion as you and removed the section. —MementoVivere (talk · contribs) 09:54, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, just realized, when i editted this i was new to the wiki and not fluent in wikieditting. Thanks for correcting my errors.Slasher600 (talk · contribs)

Donni Khan 29 Hour Marathon

This has actually brought the station more news coverage than BuddyFM. That's why it's in the entry. Doc Strange 12:47, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Wbru.jpg

Image:Wbru.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The future of the WBRU page??

Okay, serious question: Since WBRU, the radio station owned by BSS, has moved online, what will happen to the WBRU page? Technically speaking, WBRU is still an active radio station on 95.5 FM, but this page is identifying with the now-defunct online radio station. With that being said, will there be a new page added for the station that took over the 95.5 frequency, or will WBRU be re-worded to tie in with the new format? --Skeeball93 (talk) 15:03, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

According to the article, "WBRU" remains with BSS and is still the same (or continuation) of the 95.5 station, while "95.5" was sold and is now using the callsign "WLVO". So this article remains about WBRU, including its time at 95.5, and a new article could be written for the new callsign. That is, the articles track the topics even as they move from place to place, not the "one callsign at one frequency". DMacks (talk) 15:16, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In that spirit, I've taken the opportunity to give the new WLVO its own page. (Since the license did exist before BBS bought it with programming completely unrelated to WBRU/BBS, it's probably better that way, since there is still some form of "WBRU" even though it isn't on 95.5 anymore.) --WCQuidditch 07:22, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
