But isn't it already stated that it HAVE 24 EPISODES, NOT 12? Strange. But judging how they delayed due to UNKNOWN REASONS, it is reasonable. I simply hope they will air ALL THE 12 EPISODES WITHOUT ANY DELAYS.

I guess they are doubling down after that awful production schedule. Not that i'm complaining, I do want to see the whole story. I thought for sure they would stop at 12, but i'm glad to see they have the budget for the rest.

I think this is the first time I’ve wanted an anime season to come out all at once, Netflix-style. Not because I want to binge it, I just want proof they’re capable of producing all 12 episodes.

It was never actually stated by Aniplex, only assumed to be.

I assume season 2 will start sometime in early 2024, then there will be a delay and more episodes will air in late 2024. Finally the last handful of episodes will air in the middle of 2025. It is going to be a fun ride. Twisted Evil

I am normally on the other side of the argument, but this time they should really have named this season 2.

Awesome news. Absolutely loved season 1. Fingers crossed they won't have all those production issues this time around.

Hope the second cour won't be as plagued with production issues.

No surprise here. All of this was 99,9% commissioned and budgeted as a 24 ep project from the start. Playthrough 3 of 3 isn´t enough to fill ep 13-24 with the current pacing so I wouldn´t be surprised if this is where the adaptation will be willing to depart and insert material with A2. A few short flashbacks to Nier 1 to let´s say explain Devola & Popola and Project Gestalt couldn´t hurt due to the 3rd act building on material from the indirect prequel. Flashbacks to the past of both protagonists wouldn´t hurt either to show and not tell. I get why a game has to be set in the present at all times but the summary of the stage play in cour 1 already departed from that structure. Giving the most plot-driven part of the game room to breathe can´t hurt though so I don´t want too many departures either.

Anyway. See you all for the TV special made out of ep 21-24 in 2026 due to the crew coming down with Neo SARS or something.

In all honesty it is great that this is getting a 2nd cour.

Most people expected it, but this pretty much confirms it.

However, they have better get their work together and actually plan and produce it in a timely fashion, cause this was a disaster.

I don't buy the Covid excuse, this pretty much was rushed to get out in that window they gave and they failed.

They seriously need to change their attitude regarding their methods in this industry, it is outdated, exploitive and down right awful.

I rather wait additional months or even years as long as the quality remains intact and does not compromise the integrity of the series or the work force who put way more work into it and are exploited by the large corporations that run them.

Seriously Japan, your population is dwindling, your consumer base is shrinking with it, your industry is unsustainable, you keep pushing potential new workers away with your barbaric and outdated work ethic(which frankly applies to majority of their other work sectors).

Get your self together, cause everyone can see this will eventually lead to another Anime burst but this time on the homefront.

If anything we learn from 86, which team mostly presented in NieR: Automata adaptation - better to expect everything at this point.

Still, can route C last a cour? Guess we'll have more A2 considering I don't remember that many scenes with her in the game for a long time as this path takes us directly to the definitive ending.
