How to renew a Real Estate License in Minnesota

Real estate agents need to renew their licenses at regular intervals as a requirement by the Minnesota Department of Commerce. The process of renewing your real estate license in Minnesota is fairly simple and includes the following steps: 

01. Complete your Minnesota Real Estate CE Course.

The first step towards your Minnesota real estate license is completing the required state-approved Minnesota Continuing Education course. 

02. Complete your Minnesota real estate license renewal application .

Once you have completed your continuing education course and course exam, you need to go to the Minnesota Department of Commerce website and update your course completion numbers. 

03. Pay the Minnesota real estate license renewal fees.

Lastly, you need to pay the renewal fees to complete the renewal process.

How many hours of continuing education are required for Minnesota real estate license? 

Below are the credit hour requirements to renew your real estate license in Minnesota: 
Salesperson: Thirty (30) total hours are required for license renewal, fifteen (15) hours must be completed each licensing year from July 1st and June 30th. 
Broker: Thirty (30) total hours are required for license renewal, fifteen (15) hours must be completed each licensing year from July 1st and June 30th.

License Renewal Fee: $60 
Late Fee: If your renewal deadline has passed, you will no longer be able to renew it, and will instead be required to reapply in order to get your Minnesota real estate license. Reapply for the license (via your broker) and pay new fees.
