Optical TAPs
Cubro’s Optical TAPs Portfolio
The Cubro Optical TAPs maintain a permanent, entirely passive, connection for monitoring purposes and avoid introducing a potential point of failure or disturbing other network connections. Cubro passive optical TAPs deliver full-duplex monitoring with zero impact on the network.
These TAPs provide a simple but powerful way to conduct in-service monitoring of high-speed optical networks such as SDH/SONET/OTN and Ethernet up to 400 Gbit. Our optical TAPs are completely transparent and offer 100% throughput. Cubro optical TAPs can, therefore, be used for any optical network application, regardless of the bitrate.
Whether the task is the monitoring of STM-64, STM-256, 1G to 400G Ethernet or OTN signals, Cubro is the right choice. The network links can be multimode (850/1300nm) or single mode (1310/1550nm). The TAPs can be used for short-haul as well as long-haul applications.
Why do customers choose Cubro Network TAPs
Each Cubro TAP is built with exacting attention to detail and every single unit is inspected and tested upon completion. Each link of our fiber TAPs is examined and photographed using a precision microscope to ensure that no defects or contaminants are left on the fiber connector. Cubro rigorously tests every TAP to provide the highest quality while maintaining an affordable price point.
Cubro TAPs remain resilient even in the event of a hardware failure. They are engineered to allow traffic to continue to pass along the live link even if the TAP itself stops functioning. Cubro TAPs do not introduce delay or alter the content and do not drop traffic regardless of the bandwidth of the link. Quality assurance and precision are at the core of Cubro and by delivering the best possible products we achieve high customer satisfaction.
OptoSlim TAP LC – 4 & 8 Link up to 400Gbit
The Cubro OptoSlim TAP Series offers real-time monitoring access to a physical optical data link with zero performance degradation or disruption. For applications requiring high port density, our OptoSlim TAP series offers industry-leading port density in a thin and stackable 1/3RU form factor. The TAPs do introduce additional optical power loss on the active link which varies with the split ratio used; otherwise, the TAP is completely transparent to the network.

BIDI TAP -Portable BIDI TAP – 1 Link for 1310/1490/1550nm
Cubro optical BiDi TAPs are for bidirectional network links where the TX and RX signals are carried on the same fiber. Cubro BIDI TAPs provide visibility to bidirectional links. The TAPs export monitored traffic gathered from two transmitted signals, providing complete coverage for analytic and security tools. There are new smart concepts of tapping a link with two different wavelengths over the existing infrastructure with BIDI SFP which transports up to 10 Gbit duplex over only one fibre. A BIDI link uses one fibre to build a duplex link and helps to reduce costs.
Highlights
- Provides visibility to bidirectional traffic
- Full transparency, adds no delay
- Makes 100% copy of network data allowing the monitoring tools to see every bit, byte and packet
- No power supply needed, completely passive
- Cost-effective
- Low insertion loss
- Flexible and scalable
