What if ... you let a stranger into your house to use your phone, but while you've been patiently waiting in the kitchen, he just disappears ... or does he? Félix, an architect who has just split up with his girl-friend and inhabits a huge mansion in Barcelona, finds out how many hiding places there really are in his house. But are there enough to hide another person, a strange parasite of living space? Or is Félix really going insane? (Verleiher-Text)

I must necessarily join the majority. The first half was literally brilliant, the tension was intense, the main character showed convincing emotions, the atmosphere was thick throughout. Spaniards simply have it in their genes. However, they cannot deny their psychedelically acting escapades, which no one understands. The whole second half is just one big WTF, the tension completely disappears, all logic as well, and we have no idea what is actually going on there. The conclusion must have had some strange, indecipherable subtext, but as I look at it here, no one has figured it out yet. ()
A beautifully atmospheric and at times a pretty tense and unclassifiable film. Until about the middle, I didn’t have any complaints whatsoever, I hadn’t felt that tense in a long time, but then the plot goes in a completely different direction, which, despite the irrational behaviour of the protagonist, would have been fine if there was something that would explain it, like a twist. Unfortunately, there is no twist and the film closes with the most banal ending ever, which makes me feel that The Uninvited Guest is not a Lynchesque mystery that you have to put together piece by piece to gradually reveal its meaning, but actually just a film with a weird script lacking any hidden meaning – it’s just weird. Regardless, it’s worth watching, the tension in the first half is guaranteed. ()
