Alfred Hitchcock (Toby Jones) was at the height of his fame and creativity when, in 1962, he chose an unknown fashion model to star in his most ambitious film — The Birds. But as he sculpted Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller) into the perfect Hitchcock blonde of his imagination, he became obsessed with the impossible dream of winning the real woman’s love. (Verleiher-Text)

They come in pairs. While in movie theaters Hitchcock staged Psycho, television was looking after The Birds and Marnie. Apart from the nonsense that every single Hitchcock film should have its own film about the film, it's actually a pretty solid TV movie. HBO already has several similar projects under its belt, like RKO 281. There has always been a problem with Hitch, because he became a legend during his active career, and so no one dared to say anything against him. And even if someone just didn't like his brash cockney humor, it would be swept under the carpet. It's good that Tippi Hedren's trauma was addressed. For further reading, for example, we have "Donald Spoto: The Art of Alfred Hitchcock: Fifty Years of His Motion Pictures" and Tippi's autobiography "Tippi." ()
