Biography

Yoshihiro Nishimura is a successful Japanese director, screenwriter, special effects artist and make-up artist with a focus on horror movies. He is often called the "Japanese Tom Savini." Nishimura studied law, but his inspiration for movies came from the art of Salvador Dalí, from reading horror magazines, and from his own dreams.

His first short film was made in 1984. He has created the special effects for various other movies, including The Machine Girl and Meatball Machine, whose sequel is all his own. One of his most famous films is Tokyo Gore Police (2008), which was shown at festivals around the world. Nishimura also founded his own special effects production company, Nishimura Motion Picture Model Makers Group.
