After returning from World War II to find a Dear John letter from his girlfriend, a veteran murders the girl and her boyfriend at their graduation dance. Due to this tragedy, the tradition of the dances is cancelled for the next thirty-five years. When the next dance is held, the killer shows up in his battle uniform with several weapons, ready to kill again. (official distributor synopsis)

For some, goats and pitchforks evoke a farm, while for others, this sharp slasher by Joseph Zito rightfully earns its status as a cult classic. Richard Einhorn's disturbing music, solid gore during explicit murders, a masked killer with stabbing weapons and flair, the sheriff’s deputy with a scrawny chest and Cillian Murphy's eyes, his persistent ward, and a dreamlike vibe reminiscent of A Nightmare on Elm Street. The epilogue in the shower amidst paradise music and hazy shots was as ridiculous as it was brilliant. Tom Savini considers it his best work, and I certainly don’t intend to argue with Sexy Machine about it. ()
