The Poles rule this year, they are dominating strongly and I would say they are already surpassing even my favourite Spaniards, who have been rather stagnant in recent years. Maciej Pieprzyca is no newcomer and he’s made a series for Netflix that had me glued to the screen immediately, I experienced that pleasant feeling when you can't wait for the next episode and you are slowly squinting and gasping with excitement. The storyline is not particularly groundbreaking, but it works very well, especially in the Polish rendition. In short, everything I like is here. The main character is an ex spec ops who is getting used to his new job and gets an idea to rob the local gangsters, but in doing so he antagonizes two mafia clans and it turns into a decent carnage! The protagonist is a nice guy and he is not a pushover, when it comes to action he uses musado and I was in mute awe of the moves!!! I also enjoyed his brother-in-law a lot, two sharp guys who are having it out with the mafia, where by the way it seems that every member has also undergone army training – there are simply no stupid pawns here, but a pro next to a pro and it's tangible! Marcin Kowalczyk (How I Became a Gangster. True Story) was perfect as the villain, a cold-blooded asshole who has no problem torturing or mercilessly executing anyone. The shootout in episode 3 seems to have fallen from the pen of Taylor Sheridan and it was a thick intense action massacre in a hospital where this scumbag slowly took down an entire squad !!! I screamed so loud, I dropped the painting in my living room! It's got great momentum, lots of suspense, good visuals, uncompromising action, great characters that you really care about, good and familiar acting faces, a decent soundtrack; in short, a fucking awesome. But I'm a bit disappointed with the itself, it did without much action and went in a direction that didn't really work for me. Otherwise, great satisfaction. Story 3/5. Action 4/5 Visuals/Production design 4/5, Gore/Violence 2/5 Music 4/5, Suspense 4/5, Pacing 4/5, Acting 4/5. 8/10. ()
