It was, however, a bleak film... And probably the most depressing "road movie" I've ever seen. The performances of Stellan and Lena probably don't need to be dissected, both deliver their maximum. There is a lot of drinking, occasional vomiting and sex here. And during the whole time, the sun doesn't shine for a moment, except maybe for a flashback from childhood. It would be a very bad advertisement for Norway and Scotland.
