A cute beautiful breath of rain. Nothing is missing, nothing is extra. The movie doesn't pressure you, it doesn't make you cry because it leaves the decision up to you if you want to cry; I definitely would never consider it a movie that uses emotional blackmail, this just isn't it. It's just telling a story, nothing fancy. Even though you know how it ends, even though you know a lot of things, in the end you're probably happy after all, maybe woefully happy, but it can't break anyone's heart. I just... I simply don't know how to rate this film anymore. I'd go into detail on the spot, but that's not really the point, so I guess I'll have to use that timeworn phrase – this movie will move you. ()
It still strikes me as unbelievable that one country can produce such incredible absurdities, where your stomach may turn and any morality goes out the window, and then can make something as beautiful, touching, and wonderful as this film. The Japanese simply know how to do this and it's very good. ()
A perfect romantic drama with just the right amount of fantasy. There was neither too little nor too much of it. It's incredible the sensitivity and attention to detail you see in Japanese film. Everything is so precise and thorough, yet it feels natural and easy. I enjoyed just watching Mia's tiny hands opening the time capsule. Again, with such modesty and care as if it were the most expensive diamond in the world... and for them it actually was. I'm full of emotion and I feel good. In that case, I guess there's nothing more to consider... 5 stars. ()
