English The film was undoubtedly interesting. I enjoyed how the creators played with all the different timelines, whose intertwining was handled so perfectly that it occasionally confused me. However, there were also things I didn't like so much. With some passages, I had to make an effort to concentrate because I was getting bored, and my thoughts began to wander. As for the two main characters, Mark sometimes seemed like a moron, and Audrey Hepburn played Joanna, so I would have liked her even if she were killing and dissecting little kittens. Well, if she had taken care of little Ruthie in the same way, I would have been thrilled. / Lesson learned: Relationships need constant work. ()

English They met on the road, they fell in love on the road, they go their separate ways on the road. A romantic relationship conceived as a series of sweet and bitter episodes. About the people they meet, about the places they visit, about the vehicles by which they travel. It’s very simple and thus functional in every aspect. Laughter, regret, compassion, the wish to stay together. Thanks to the time span that the film covers, Audrey Hepburn was able to show that, besides playing a cute girl, she could also easily play a mature woman with clear goals in life. A beautiful smile, seemingly spontaneous reactions and the original model for every occasion. She and Albert Finney, whose face I know in its more wrinkled form, make a likable couple who, despite occasional arguments, make travelling together look appealing. Without needlessly thinking it over, I’ll put this in the narrow category of “my favourite romantic films”. 80% ()

English "Do you know what marriage is? - Marriage is when the woman tells the man to take off his pajamas... and it's because, she wants to send them to the laundry." Marriage Story but more than fifty years earlier. Two for the Road is the bittersweet story of two people who couldn't stop loving each other despite everything life threw at them. What makes the film particularly compelling is its indirect narrative techniques, which allow us to follow Joanna and Mark's life journey on several time levels, which intertwine in a purposeful way to create a map of their complicated relationship. The two leading actors play their roles in a convincing manner and give us a realistic view of the snares of marriage. Even though this is primarily a relationship drama, there was still room for a few humorous moments that balanced the serious line of the film. P.S. Little Ruthie and her parents made my blood boil beyond belief! ()
