Stan and Ollie escape from jail and reach downtown, where an accomplice supplies them with street clothes. But in their haste they wind up wearing each other’s pants. Correcting the mistake proves tricky with police officers and passers by looking on. Chased to the top of an unfinished skyscraper they perform a gravity-defying dance on the steel girders of the construction site, animated by a large crab that has accidentally fallen into Stan’s pants (during their attempts to switch clothes). It's stronger in the second half, when after changing pants and crab claw attacks, it shifts into the "safety last" territory of Harold Lloyd, featuring steel structures of skyscrapers, dizziness, and related panic attacks with the extremely shaky knees of the more emotionally unstable member of the famous duo. I’m not sure what to make of the scenes where Laurel first pulls down his pants in front of Jean Harlow and then sniffs his hand at the fish market.
