By the time I finally got into the characters and put together what each character was supposed to be like, almost half of the movie was behind me. When at that point the script merely switches between two postures – confused or naive – it would seem that a disaster is in the making. And yet there are two reasons it doesn't. Lex Barker and Pierre Brice effortlessly prove that the chemistry between the partners in the Winnetou movies is not coincidental, and their scenes together are a humorous balm for every fan of the classic Karel May novels. Thanks to theses two, Manitoba is a relatively pleasant breather for everyone who wants to see two unforgettable idols in a different relationship than just the traditional blood brothers. ()
