I really like this story – the anime completely captivated me, the movie is weaker in that it doesn't have a chance to resolve everything properly, but it's still a very successful work. It's still got that rush of enthusiasm for making manga, it's got exactly the aspects that work in Shōnen jump: friendship, hard work and winning. That is, the ending of the film is a bit more tepid, but otherwise it's packed with emotion and sweat. Basically, it could be compared to a sports movie – the central characters want to win at something, so they try their damnedest to do so. I was very satisfied with the performances of Nana Komatsu, I could see that she had less experience than the others, but she always just appeared, smiled sweetly, then disappeared again. The rest of the male cast was great, you couldn't expect anything else from this first class team. However, what I also really liked was the visuals and effects that were used. They fit the movie beautifully and moved the plot along. Just a classy film about friendship and the making of a successful manga. ()
