It is nice to see that Jules Verne’s home country is not lacking in imagination even in modern times. This is very interesting, sophisticated, and charming even though it is perhaps quite naive for my taste... 8.2/10. ()
An animated film with a great premise. I liked its alternate history setting, and I enjoyed the classic animation which made me remember the cartoons I loved as a kid. The technique and the overall atmosphere of the film reminded me of Karel Zeman’s work. There were quite a few hilarious moments in the plot, but it also had a deeper and darker undertone. It was entertaining as well as thought-provoking, and I was satisfied. ()
A beautiful animated film that draws inspiration from the clean line style of Belgian animation. Yes, a few times I felt like I was seeing characters from "Tintin". An interesting story that once again proves that steampunk suits the French capital well. Definitely something worth going to animated films for. ()
I objectively give April and the Twisted World five stars. I really enjoyed it and even though it is intended for a younger audience, it worked almost perfectly for me and allowed me to go back to my childhood for a while. It is the essence of the French comic book school with perfect artistic interpretation, with a touch of Miyazaki, Jules Verne, and a lot of steampunk, and artistically it reminds me of the style of the Tintin comic book adventures. It is a funny and stylish affair with a pleasantly reasonable duration. You don't often see a similar game on what would happen "if". Overall impression: 90%. ()
